Alberta boy, 5, dies in crash with go-kart

EDMONTON — A five-year-old boy died Saturday while playing with a go-kart in a driveway on the Saddle Lake First Nation in Alberta.
The boy was playing with the go-kart along with several other children at about 7:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, say RCMP. Somehow the go-kart was set in motion when the boy was on it. The child wasn’t able to control the cart and it struck a parked pickup truck before adults who were nearby could intervene.
The boy was brought to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Saddle Lake RCMP say they are continuing to investigate the incident. It’s unknown if the child was wearing a helmet when he crashed.
Saddle Lake is approximately 180 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
