RCMP are trying to make sense of the "chaos" that broke out on the Morley reserve Friday night which began with a stolen van, morphed into a series of fist fights and ended with six people injured, four seriously. Three of the four patients transported to Foothills Hospital were clinging to life, officials said. The incident began about 4:30 p.m., when a stolen Dodge Caravan with six people pulled up to a residence and three people jumped out, including the driver, RCMP said.
They were met by someone from the home and an altercation ensued, resulting in injuries, said spokeswoman Doris Stapleton.
While the fight was going on, someone else from the van jumped into the driver’s seat and drove off.
"At that point three people either fall out of the van or somehow get run over before the van then crashes into a tree, and then there was more fighting," she said. "There are no fatalities at this point, but there were a lot of people laying on the ground and the scene is very large and very chaotic."
Alcohol is believed to be a factor, said Stapleton.
Two ground ambulances from Calgary and one each from Nakota, Kananaskis Country and Canmore were dispatched, as well as STARS air ambulance, said Stuart Brideaux, EMS spokesman.
"Three of the patients are categorized as in serious, potentially life-threatening condition," Brideaux said, adding the fourth is in serious, but stable condition. A fifth patient was in stable condition and in RCMP custody, while a sixth was in stable, non-life-threatening condition.

Charges are pending against four people and Cochrane RCMP are expected to provide more details today.
"It was an absolutely chaotic scene," said Stapleton.
