EDMONTON - The RCMP was investigating Saturday after the bodies of two people were found in a rural home southeast of Spruce Grove.
Spruce Grove and Stony Plain RCMP were called around 2 p.m. Friday to the home, where they found a dead man and woman.
Major crimes investigators from the Edmonton RCMP and K Division forensics experts have been called in to help.
Police said they’re not currently looking for suspects.
RCMP won’t identify the two people or release the cause of death until after an autopsy, scheduled for Monday.
A man who stopped by the property called police about the incident, Const. Barb Roy said during a news conference at the scene.
“A friend had showed up at the house and found two deceased inside the house,” she said. “We are continuing our investigation.”
The bodies were taken to the medical examiner’s office in Edmonton, said Roy, who described the deaths as suspicious.
Officers are speaking with neighbours near the brown brick house surrounded by trees at lot 1, 51524 Range Road 271.
“Our forensic identification unit is in the house right now, continuing to take exhibits and gather information about what happened,” she said.
“We’ll be holding the scene until Monday when the autopsies are finished.”
Neighbours said the property owner was a divorced man who owned a honey business in the area for more than a decade.
